Whole Wheat Waffles
Yummy and Heart Healthy
I love sharing recipes and trying new things. It is always fun and you never know what your taste buds are going to experience. Cooking with your family and friends is very rewarding. It brings joy and great for socializing. Being healthy is not just using the right ingredients. It is about living your life as a whole person. Taking care of your mental health, happiness, food, physical activity. It all adds years to your life.
This recipe I found on Pinterest is wonderful and can be adjusted to your liking. I love Pinterest and I use it all the time. I cannot live without it, lol. You can always add fun stuff like chocolate chips, peanut butter or whatever your heart desires. I added Cinnamon. It gives it a yummy flavor especially when you top it off with bananas, strawberries and blueberries.
Whole Wheat flour is a better, healthier choice versus using white flour. Unless you have allergy to Wheat. Whole Wheat is a wholesome food. It is full of nutrients and vitamins unlike white flour which is processed and is considered one of the factors in America’s obesity epidemic. It is pure carbohydrate, sugar that lost most of its nutrients.
On the other hand, whole wheat flour is full of nutrients such as magnesium, calcium, potassium, sulfur, iodide, copper, vitamin E and vitamin B. It can help fight obesity, improves metabolism, prevent type 2 diabetes, reducing inflammation, prevent cancer and heart disease.
Be happy, enjoy your food. Make the right choices...
Ingredients
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tbsp sugar
4 tsp baking powder
A dash of salt
2 eggs
2 cups milk (I added additional cup of water because it was too thick)
½ cup vegetable oil
½ tsp vanilla
2 tbsp cinnamon
(you can add anything you like such as chocolate chips or peanut butter)
For Toppings ( have fun, ask what others like to add)
Strawberries
Blueberries
Raspberries
Bananas
Peanut Butter
Whipped Cream
Pure maple syrup
Honey
(sometimes I mix some fresh berries with lemon juice and a spoonful of sugar. I let it set in the fridge for an hour. Maybe do it before you start making your waffles. It makes the fruits so juicy and yummy as a topping for your waffles.)
Instructions
Mix all dry ingredients well in a mixing bowl
Add wet ingredients and mix well until no lumps
Spray waffle iron with nonstick cooking spray
Turn Waffle iron on
Follow directions on your waffle maker, I usually have mine set to 4.5
